Omg. Games Done Quick is always great, I should check if they did any games I know this year. I watched a Borderlands 2 speedrun last year with some friends and it was amazing.
Man, I was really super excited for a bit because I thought they had a speedrun of that neat space exploration game you guys mentioned once? Then I realized it was Outer Worlds, not Outer Wilds, and was sad.
It was still such a good experience, though! I hope you'll be able to find a game you know on there.
It's kinda unfortunate that Outer Worlds and Outer Wilds came out so close to each other, everybody is so confused about which is which. XD
An Outer Wilds speedrun would... actually be a bit weird. Heh, now that I think about it, the game itself is kind of like... learning how to speedrun the game? In the game, you're caught in a 22-minute time loop and need to keep starting over from the beginning, and you need to explore and get enough knowledge that you can eventually start at the beginning and know exactly what to do to win and how to do it in less than 22 minutes. You don't get any extra skills or inventory or anything, it's all knowledge-based. So it's like a game that's a ton of exploring and information gathering, followed by a little speedrun. But a lot of the impact of the game and why it was so good is the process of getting the knowledge and taking things slow and learning all the story, and a true speedrun would miss out on that. Here's a good let's play of the game, if you like let's plays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTNlKjUhEa4 It's seriously one of the coolest games I've seen in the last couple years. :D
Yeah, a game analyst we really enjoy did a video in which it was featured, and that + your mention got us interested! It's such an intriguing world. Thank you for the Let's Play rec, we've been looking around but there's so many of them. v@
